Sorry I’ve been a little inactive lately! Uni has been so hectic so stress levels are very high with me at the moment. On the plus side, the weather is finally starting to warm up again as we go into summer here in Australia so it’s time to get my summer tan on.

My skin type has two settings: white ghost or sizzling tomato, all depending on how much sun time I get. Due to this, I often result to fake tanning to get a gorgeous summer glow. The Bondi Sands dark tanning foam has been my tan of choice for about 3 years now so when word got around that Bondi Sands was introducing an ultra dark shade to their tanning line my Instagram feed turned to a frenzy as did I at the thought of finally being able to develop the gorgeous brown tone I envied so much in my olive skinned friends.

Carrying out my own test, I tanned one leg using the Bondi Sands Ultra dark and left one leg tan free for comparison (picture below). I did find that by comparison, the Ultra dark tanning foam seemed to be drier in formula than the standard dark tanning foam. This was great as it meant I could get dressed quicker and found it to transfer less onto my sheets. Although I did notice that although I was darker than when I am when I use the Dark tanning foam I found that it really clung to dry patches around my ankles despite thoroughly exfoliating with my C Lab + Co Coffee scrub and exfoliating glove. Also, this stuff sticks like glue, but not in a good way. It’s been almost 10 days since I’ve applied and there I’m still having to sweat it out in long pants because even through I moisturised, after day 4 my skin was looking scaly af (not cute bondi, not cute).

I definitely prefer my standard dark to the ultra dark. If you’ve got a few half used bottles of the normal dark I wouldn’t rush out and pick up ultra dark in a hurry. Two coats of dark gives you the colour of ultra dark without the horrible scaly wear time, plus it’s $5 cheaper.

What do you think of the new shade?
