There has been a certain buzz around matcha in the past couple of months and I've seen it emerge in anything and everything from latte's to ice-cream. If you haven't heard about this little green superfood, Matcha is basically a powdered form of high quality green tea which is ingested as a whole when mixed with hot water as opposed to the seeping and straining process of brewing normal green tea leaves.
Recently I've also jumped on the matcha bandwagon and have been intrigued about adding it into foods rather than drinking it in tea form (even though tea form is fantastic). I would say it has an acquired taste to which I personally enjoy (if you ask my sister however you'll get a different response!).
This morning for breakfast I whipped up this green matcha yogurt breakfast bowl and it was so quick, easy and delicious that I wanted to share it with you.
Ingredients:
1 Cup of greek yoghurt
1 teaspoon of matcha
Your choice of toppings: Think fruit, nuts, super-foods etc. (I've used banana, kiwifruit, chia and coconut flakes in this particular bowl but I did later add some frozen berries for some extra chill).
A bowl and spoon (obviously)
Method:
Stir matcha and yoghurt in a bowl until combined and smooth
Add your desired toppings and enjoy! (told you it was quick and easy)
Have you tried this recipe or anything with matcha in it? Be sure to let me know your thoughts in the comments!
This looks yummy! I've always wanted to try Matcha!
